Segre born in response to a need: to protect workers from harmful particles and gases.
In 1968 Evert SEGERSTEN had a company engaged in automotive refinishing and he discovered that he needed to protect his employees from the working environment they were in. Evert began making masks by cutting them by hand. Surprisingly, the first masks Evert SEGERSTEN made were very similar to the masks that the company makes today. It was during this time the design “flat folded” was invented.
The employees were very happy with the new production and felt very secure. Evert SEGERSTEN discovered that his masks was so efficient that he could market the product and offer other industrial companies to buy them. To achieve this goal, we strained to improve the mask quality and acquired the necessary certification to market them.
We introduced a new material in the masks that allowed us to achieve a greater filtration. Thanks to this improvement, we managed to get the certificate 2A, which gave us the opportunity to promote the product. Segre was the second company in the world to acquire this certificate.
Despite the fact that the product was unique and one of its kind in the marketplace, we never stopped modifying the mask design and materials to improve its quality. Specifically, we were not satisfied with how the masks felt against the skin and that the moisture resistance had to be improved. The solution to all these problems was found when we introduced a new material which we still use. This material gave the masks greater moisture resistance and made them feel comfortable and soft against the skin. We also wanted to improve the fit of the mask to the worker’s face and therefore we created a leather mask in which you only have to replace the filters after each work session. The leather holders were removed some years later due to the fact that we found a convenient way to customize the masks to the face.
The company has always been aware that the masks success largely depends on the high quality of the materials we use. For this reason, our employees never stop traveling the world in search of the best materials to improve the quality of the mask. We discovered that the electrostatic fibers provides very high filtration of particles, while the breathing resistance is low. That is when we created the CN SEGRE MASKS. Our competitors quickly discovered the electrostatic fiber efficiency and changed their masks to introduce this material.
With the incorporation of electrostatic fibers the quality of our masks increased drastically and we managed to acquire the certificate 2B. This certification allowed us to increase our product scale and manufacture masks with different levels of protection.
The company’s research to find better materials and design continues to this today. We are aware that the effort and quality of the materials we use makes our masks stand out from other mask on the market. Segre has always been one step ahead, when it comes to working with fibers that ensures maximum filtration and minimum breathing resistance. One of many reasons Segre is a world leader in its field.
