Serial Dilutions on Xiril Robotic Workstations
Flexibility and precision ensure optimal pipetting results.
Xiril robotic workstations accurately and quickly perform serial dilutions across 96- or 384-
well plates using up to 8 pipetting channels simultaneously. A sophisticated liquid handling
ensures homogeneous distribution of samples and precise aliquotting for reproducible
results. The Lirix software allows the programming of templates for the serial dilution, predilutions
or assay related dilution schemes underlying any arithmetic progression or
random pattern. This process can be run as a stand alone application or as part of a more
complex automated solution.
• Highest sample uniformity due to
optimized mixing procedure
• Any arithmetic progression or
random pattern
• Pressure based liquid level detection
for all liquids
• Liquid level calculation ensures
correct liquid transfers
• Flexible and modular system concept
Many applications in Life Science and
Diagnostics require certain pipetting patterns
that are repeatedly used. One very common
pattern is the serial dilution. A typical application
is found in pharmaceutical screening processes
when substrates need to be diluted from their
highly concentrated stock solution to
concentrations suitable for the screening assay.
Another broadly used application is the
distribution of standards on a micro plate to
determine concentrations of a substrate or the
sensitivity of a test. To achieve reproducible and
exact results applications have a very high
demand for a superior pipetting quality.
