nnnnD/T Module: Desalination
nnnnDescription
nnnnThe modular design consists of individual thin film composite membranes
nnnncushioned between hydraulic cover disks, stacked, and assembled about a
nnnncentertenslon rod and effectively sealed
nnnnbetween metal end flanges.
nnnnDisc Tube Module Operation
nnnnSeawaterflows down passages between the disc stack and the pressure vessel and enters the flow
nnnnchamberfrom beneath the bottom disk. The flow is directed up and over each membrane cushion allowing
nnnnpure waterto pass through the semi-permeable membrane and be collected by the permeate collector.
nnnnFeedwater contamination is prevented by '0' ring seals fitted to the hydraulic disks. As the pure water is
nnnnremoved the strongly concentrated feed Is taken away to discharge. The open channel created by the
nnnnmembrane cushion enables fully turbulent feedwater and permeate flow. It can also operate on sea water
nnnnwith a silt density Index (SDI) as high as 20 without risk of fouling the RO membranes.

Specifications
nnnnFeatures and Benefits
nnnnThe Pall DÍT Module Is designed to overcome many of the problems associated with existing reverse
nnnnosmosis desalination systems:
nnnnr> Unrestricted, open channel, turbulent feedwater flow
nnnnK No chemical pre or post treatment required
nnnnr- High permeate recovery rates: 30% from seawater; 50% from 'brackish'water
nnnn► Low environmental impact
nnnn► Integrated self cleaning system
nnnn■ Simple and flexible maintenance procedures
nnnnK Long membrane life - 5 years plus
nnnn► High performance and low operating costs Energy requirements:
nnnnSeawater - 10kWWm3 of pure water Brackish water - 4kWh/m3 of pure water
