Centrisep® Engine Advanced Protection System (EAPS) for
AgustaWestland AW119 Koala Helicopters
Description
Fit and Forget Engine Protection
The AW119 helicopter is used in a variety of roles including executive transport, police, Emergency Medical
Services (EMS), and military applications. These demanding operations can mean anxious minutes spent
hovering close to the ground, as well as frequent landings on unprepared surfaces. These helicopters must be
ready 24/7 for rapid deployment to any location. Their missions cannot be delayed or restricted by operational
challenges like a blocked filter; they require a reliable, maintenance-free engine protection system.
The “fit and forget” Centrisep EAPS is an ideal solution for such challenging operations. It shields the engine
inlet from airborne contamination which results in:
Safer operation (Protection against FOD, ice, snow and sand)
Increased operational availability
Protection against engine erosion
On the AW119, the unit consists of three flat panels integrated on the engine cowl which replace the standard
screen intake.
Part numbers:
QB0688
Scavenge system:
Ejector
Certification:
Far 27 certification to RTCA-DO160C with Italian Airworthiness Authority, Ente Nazionale per
l'Aviazione Civile (ENAC-RAI)
Certified for operation in the event of inadvertent entry into icing conditions, the AW119 Centrisep EAPS does
not need a by-pass door or differential pressure monitoring systems.
Maintenance
There are no inlet barrier filters to replace or clean; the Centrisep EAPS is a “fit and forget” system. As with all
aircraft equipment, routine visual inspection is recommended.
In case of damage, please refer to the Component Maintenance Manual 71-61-00 available through Pall
Aerospace.
