MODEL 501
nnnnHOT WIRE WELDING POWER SUPPLY
nnnnARC MACHINES. INC.
nnnnThe widest range of orbital welding equipment in the world
nnnnThe Mode! 501 Hot Wire Power Supply is designed
nnnnto increase the deposition rate of the filler wire in
nnnnthe weld joint by resistively preheating it.
nnnnThe increased deposition rate is achieved by pre
nnnnheating the wire close to its melting point before its
nnnnintroduction into the weld puddle. The higher deposi-
nnnntion rate leads to increased productivity in welding and
nnnncladding operations. Moreover, by preheating the wire
nnnnbefore introducing it in the puddle, all moisture from
nnnnthe wire surface is removed, which leads to an im-
nnnnproved weld quality.
nnnnThe Hot Wire TIG welding process can provide
nnnndeposition rates that are competitive with the MIG
nnnnprocess, and produce superior quality weldments.
nnnn• Constant Voltage (CV) True RMS m od e-of-operation
nnnn• Calibrated Precision Closed-Loop Servo Output Control
nnnn• Voltage Feedback Sensing at the wire feed tip or
nnnninternal to the Power Supply
nnnn• True RMS instrumentation Outputs (Amps and Volts)
nnnn• Optional Remote Programming Pendant
nnnn• Control input for connection to an external controller
nnnn► The Model 501 Is a high-precision
nnnnpower supply using advanced technology
nnnnto increase welding productivity. To mini-
nnnnmize magnetic interference , the Model 501
nnnnuses AC current to preheat the wire. This
nnnncurrent is far more precise than competitive
nnnnmachines, being very close to a true sine
nnnnwave. As an option the Model 501 can be
nnnnordered with a DC current output module.
