Geared Piston Motors
Why buy an Armak Geared Piston Air Motor (a Rotating Lobe Motor)?
Consider –
For many years Radial Piston Air Motors were the dominating design in high
performance Air Motors. There was no alternative and the disadvantages of this
design were accepted. Until we started building the Armak Geared Piston Motor.
Some call it a Rotating Lobe Motor.
Armak Air Motors are constant pressure machines, running without contact of the
torque producing parts, manufactured under ISO9001.
They might be called a variation of the Root Blower.
The only wear parts are a shaft seal and four bearings,
two for the power lobe, the upper component, and
two for the sealing rotor, the lower component.
Power lobe and sealing rotor are rotating with extreme
narrow gaps but without contact.
This assures a long and reliable motor life time.
Which more than 1200 users have found to be true.
In this design the torque is generated in the power lobe –
the one on top - and is transferred to the output shaft of the
sealing rotor by a single stage synchronizing gear.
Each motor has one air inlet and one air outlet port at the
back of the motor, except for the largest type which has an
additional outlet port on the side as shown in the picture.
Subject to the direction of rotation this is on the left
or right side of the motor.
Why buy an Armak Geared Piston Motor (a Rotating Lobe Motor) ?
Because end users do appreciate these features:
totally closed motor housing. No oil sump. No entrance of water in the motor
vibration free running even at high motor rpm. Comparable to a turbine drive
non contacting torque producing parts, hence long operating life
a motor efficiency which gets better in operation
compact design with freedom of installation
smooth running from 75 rpm upwards
ATEX II Kat. 2 GDcT5 is standard.
ATEX I M2 can be supplied for operation under ATEX IM2 conditions
perfect control with Armak Lever Control or Remote Control Valves,
if required with emergency shut off valve or with Gears or Brakes in
compliance with the EU machinery directive.
