The ESBX-4440 is optimized for multi-processor systems requiring high-performance I/O and high reliability, with a low cost per processor solution. Designed for the embedded environment, the ESBX-4440 provides a high performance solution (up to 1000 MIPS) with very low power dissipation (typical 9W @ 667 MHz). High reliability together with high performance is designed in with the highly integrated 440GX, with ECC Dual Data Rate (DDR) memory. Standalone form factor The ESBX-4440 is ready to use as a system mainboard for embedded application. Its small factor support direct integration for industry standard 1U element. Storage interface One CompactFlash slot is available for one true IDE card intended for user storage purpose. A dual Serial ATA (S-ATA) interface is intended for volume data storage. Communication links The ESBX-4440 offers a variety of on-board I/O. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports support up to 1000 Mbps communication for intensive network applications. Two additional dual speed Fast Ethernet interfaces are available. Two RS-232 asynchronous serial ports are available for user general purpose operations. Fast Ethernet, Bypass capability The ESBX-4440 supports bypass function on the Fast Ethernet. A general system failure will bypass the ESBX-4440 communication ports and allow direct connection between the WAN and LAN interfaces. PCI extension bus The ESBX-4440 supports either an on-board Midi-PCI mezzanine module and a 64-bit PCI extension bus for two external PCI peripheral cards. Software Developers can take advantage of the ESBX-4440's power and performance when running major real-time operating systems (RTOSes) or when deploying applications based on the low-cost, open-source Linux ՙ operating system.
