PF-48
The PF-48 is a “fixed” controlled fell harvester head providing complete
control of felled trees to the operator. This control allows the operator to cut
and position trees during select thinning of hardwoods, the focal application
for the PF-48, without damaging the residual stand. The one-of-a-kind four
roller design has been field proven in tough hardwood applications for over 15
years resulting in a robust, well built product.
Uptime. High uptime is a key benefit of this harvester head. The PF-48 is
an easy to maintain head with the entire valve package incorporated into
the carrier, eliminating the shock loads entering the hydraulic system during
felling resulting in less maintenance. With the main hydraulic components
on the carrier, the head has minimal parts that are susceptible to common
failures experienced on typical harvester heads.
Quality. The 4 roller feed design decreases rolling resistance providing
increased feed speed and superior delimbing torque. Soft clamp delimbing
arms along with the walking beam roller design allows the head to follow the
stem profile for clean efficient delimbing.
Accuracy. Dual roller length measurement along with an independent
measuring device (IMD), allows the user to select the best system for the
application.
Flexibility. The PF-48 is ideally suited for the smallest track harvester
manufactured by Caterpillar®. This combination provides excellent
maneuverability and efficient harvesting. However, the PF-48 can also be
paired with the wheel harvester built by Caterpillar providing quicker mobility
without compromising maneuverability.
VALUE. Low maintenance costs, total tree control, and the straight forward
computer system with multiple length presets, sensor fine turning, cutting
window alarms, as well as an optional diameter measurement feature,
provide unmatched end product value.
DURABILITY. Since its early development in 1994 the PF-48 has proven to be
a capable product day-in and day-out working in tough hardwood applications.
Some of the very first heads are still operating today in hardwoods with over
20,000 hours on them. Not too many harvester heads can survive a steady
diet of hardwoods quite like the PF-48.
