Direct Manufacturing Process Powers Digital Dentistry
“We get such a good product. You do your print job, it
comes out, it’s perfect. You do your next print job, it
comes out, it’s perfect. Basically there’s no-brainer to
this whole thing.”
ZTML Vanik Kaufmann-Jinoian, Owner – Cera-Tech Dental Laboratory
Global Digital Dentistry Expert
When Vanik Kauffmann-Jinoian talks, people listen. In fact, the dental industry listens on a global
basis. Vanik is internationally renowned for his ground-breaking research and development work in
ceramics and the use of CAD/CAM technology in today’s rapidly-evolving Digital Dentistry industry.
“We think CAD/CAM is becoming more and more a combined effort.
That means combining old technology with new technology, states

According to Vanik, “You still need the knowledge of the technician
and you need the right type of equipment.”
Vanik also points out that labs often lose sight of the total cost of
ownership and the importance of having a production backup plan.
“You want to use a system where basically you have a machine you
can afford and if you get more business you can buy a 2nd machine or
a 3rd or 4th machine. This way if one machine breaks down for any
reason you still have other machines running.
For Vanik it came down to a few simple questions: “Which system
shall I buy? Shall I buy a 3D System? Shall I buy Solidscape?” Vanik
then made his choice. “We go for Solidscape because it is four times
less in price. We can buy four machines for the price of one,” He
added: “You must buy smart. As a lab you always need a backup.”
