nnnnAIR MAX VS® I/O CABLE ASSEMBLIES
nnnnDESCRIPTION
nnnnThe FCI AirMax VS® I/O connectors and cable
nnnnassemblies, the first I/O high-performance
nnnnconnector system to use a shield-less design with
nnnnan air dielectric between conductors, deliver
nnnnsignal densities up to 63.5 differential pairs per
nnnninch while exhibiting low insertion loss and low
nnnncrosstalk. This interconnect system allows
nnnnhardware system designers to scale differential
nnnnsignal transmission from 2.5Gb/s per channel up
nnnnto 10Gb/s per channel without requiring any
nnnnconnector system enhancements or upgrades.
nnnnThe AirMax VS cables are constructed using 4
nnnndifferential pair per column wafers with the wafers
nnnnbeing spaced on 2mm centerlines. The cable
nnnnassemblies are offered in either 96 or 120 positions
nnnnconfigurations and mate with corresponding
nnnnAirMax VS board mount connectors in vertical
nnnnand right angle configurations.
nnnnThe cables are retained to the board headers via
nnnna passive latching system.
nnnnAdditionally, customized I/O solutions that meet
nnnncustomer specific internal or external application
nnnnrequirements are possible and can include
nnnnfeatures such as alternative cable retention
nnnnmethods, such as active latches or jack screws,
nnnnand overall EMI shielding to address external
nnnnfront-panel or rear-plug I/O cabling solutions.
