The PCIE-PCIX-XPS-7S PCI Express to PCI-X
Expansion System provides an easy-to-use
migration path to PCI Express for legacy PCI-X
and PCI cards. Designed for high throughput
and enhanced system functionality, the expansion systems provide seven available 64-bit
slots with PCI Express cable interfaces supporting 10 Gb/s raw throughput in each direction.
PCIE-PCIX-XPS-7S is a complete system that
includes a x4 PCI Express host card, a seven
slot PCI-X/PCI chassis, redundant 350 W power
supplies with power failure detection, and a
5-meter cable.
The PCI Express host card extends the PCI
Express interface to an external cable connection. Brought over a cable to the expansion
chassis, the PCI Express interface connects to
the Intel 41210 PCI Express to PCI-X bridge.
This bridge chip functions as the source for
two independent PCI-X buses on the expansion backplane. One bus connects to two 100
MHz PCI-X slots. The other bus connects to one
133/100 MHz PCI-X slot and a PCI-X to PCI-X
bridge that sources four 66 MHz PCI-X slots.
Host cards and backplanes are available separately for applications requiring a different type
of enclosure or for use as spares. The 19-inch,
4U rackmount chassis with backplane is also
available separately.
GE PCI Express Expansion Systems are ideal
for multi-media and test applications that are
invested in PCI-X/PCI and migrating to
PCI Express.
