The Roto-Finish Centrifugal Barrel Machine (RCB series) is the fastest method of mass finishing small parts available today. This centrifugal finishing machine is typically 20 times faster than vibratory cycle times. Description of Mechanical OperationWith a high energy centrifugal finishing machine, your parts are placed inside closed barrels along with media, compound, and water. The RCB series machines have four (4) barrels evenly mounted around the periphery of a turret. As the turret rotates in one direction, the barrels are rotated in the opposite direction giving you a high energy sliding action inside the compartment resulting in a uniform part roll during processing and a uniform finish on your parts. In the one cubic foot machine (RCB-1 or RCB8-1), barrels are available either in steel or composite with urethane liners, and are removable for loading and unloading. Composite barrels are suitable only if the process is less than one hour. Steel barrels only are used in the two cubic foot and larger machines. Unique Features of the Roto-Finish RCB8 SeriesIn the RCB8 Series, the position of the barrel to the turret is inclined generating a double sliding action within the compartment. Parts and media not only slide top to bottom, but they also slide side to side (figure 8 action) providing the most effective finishing in the industry. Electronic Controls Include: - process timer - emergency stop - electronic clutch and brake - indicator lights - wiring for 230 or 460 / 3 / 60 - safety interlocks to prevent machine from operating with guarding or covers open.CapacitiesThe RCB series is available in 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, or 10 cubic foot models; either straight or figure-8 design. Available Process SupportOur process lab is available to assist in determining if the RCB series is right for your parts process. We have 1 and 3 cubic foot machines set up in our lab and appreciate the opportunity to test your parts to demonstrate the length of process time and size of machine best for you. Our lab will also advise which Roto-Brite® compound is best for this application. |
