Alfa Laval Packinox Multi-Stream Heat Exchangers can serve
in a range of applications that require handling of multiple
streams in a single unit.
The reactor effluent chiller for MTBE units is one such example.
In this case study, retrofitting a Alfa Laval Packinox reactor
effluent chiller into an MTBE unit enhanced efficiency by
further cooling reactor effluent after the chiller drum.
The 2.8 MW reactor effluent chiller consists of a welded plate
bundle maintained by tie rods. It accommodates four
streams: reactor effluent, chiller knock-out drum liquid, chiller
knock-out drum vapors, and a propane refrigerant.
