Cost Effective and High Performance Oscillators for Small Cells
Rakon’s OCXOs and ultra-stable TCXOs meet the frequency and timing requirements of small cell designers. Rakon oscillators
independently maintain time and frequency for extended periods, providing better service availability at the network edge.
Rakon Oscillators for Small Cells
Rakon’s patented tilt compensation technology ensures the
oscillator’s stability specification is sustained throughout the
equipment’s life. Low frequency drift ensures that the product
maintains its specified performance over a wide range of
environmental situations. Rakon’s portfolio of SMD OCXOs and
ultra-stable TCXOs can provide guaranteed holdover from 24
hours to 10 days.
Rakon has a range of oscillators that combine holdover and
phase-noise parameters optimised for the performance and
cost requirements of small cell applications.
OCXO
Using state of the art ASIC design techniques, Rakon has
produced the world’s first OCXO on a single piece of silicon –
the Mercury™ OCXO. The IC-based OCXO provides reduced
footprints and lower cost solutions .
Conventional OCXO: for optimum performance over wide
temperature ranges.

ercury™ OCXO: ultra compact Mercury™ OCXO provides
excellent frequency stability over temperature and ultra low
power consumption. These performance characteristics are
especially important for equipment that is powered over
Ethernet. The oscillator’s excellent phase noise performance
makes it the perfect choice for LTE small cell applications where
a high performance and cost effective solution is required.
TCXO
P
luto+TM is simply the best performing TCXO in the world. It is
based on the original Pluto technology: technology designed
into millions of small cell and other timing and synchronisation
sockets globally. With superb frequency versus temperature
and slope performance, its ‘Best-In-Class’ phase noise
performance meets the requirements of LTE RF transceivers.

cost are at a premium.
VCXO, XO and Crystals
T
o address the rest of the functionality required in small
cells, Rakon offers a comprehensive range of VCXO, XO and
Crystals. This includes low-cost commercial clock oscillators for
computational processors through to low-noise VCXO and XO
for WiFi and high speed data communications (e.g. PCI Express,
Ethernet, XAUI optical, etc).
