ASM 1800
Automatic Sample Grinding
Machine
O
BLF's ASM 1800
automatic grinding
machine was specially
developed for customers whose
line of business demands
automatic preparation of
recurring sample types for
spectrometer analysis. The
fact that this samplepreparation machine was
developed in-house by the same
company that produces the
spectrometer itself gives
customers the certainty that
the machine satisfies all
r e q u i r e m e n t s f o r
spectrometer-compliant sample
preparation despite its
extremely favourable priceperformance ratio.
T
he automatic ASM 1800
grinding machine
consists of a highperformance belt grinder with
an integrated sample-handling
system that also ensures
correct positioning and removal
of the sample again. The
grinding bed is manufactured
using a special method that
makes it extremely abrasionproof and non-wearing. The
machine is fitted with a spark
extinguisher and a dust
remover with coarse and fine
particle filters for the metal
particles produced during
grinding.
T
hree different grinding
programs for differing
sample materials or
grinding depths can be defined
and stored. These programs can
be selected using a switch,
after which the automatic
grinding process begins.
A
part from this
automated operating
mode, the ASM 1800
can also be used for manual
grinding jobs, which can be very
helpful when working with
spectrometer samples of
differing geometries.
T
o facilitate integration
into a fully automated
analysis line, the ASM
1800 is coupled with the
analysis process computer via
an interface. Any number of
grinding programs can be
defined and used with this
configuration.
