MRV is a long-standing company with nearly three decades of experience. MRV has passed many cycles of technology and market changes over this period, creating innovative solutions to align with market trends and technology evolution. When other companies disappeared, MRV adapted like a “chameleon” that survived the brutal environment of the market, exploring new technologies to develop market-driven solutions. MRV’s core experience in packet and optical technologies is the cornerstone of network power. Experience matters.

OVERVIEW
OptiSwitch®
The OptiSwitch portfolio is a family of high-performance MEF CE2.0 certified service demarcation and high-density,
packet-optical, pre-aggregation increased devices with innovations like service flow awareness, layer convergence,
and zero-touch provisioning that give it the power to match growing service demands with rapid service provisioning
and superior performance. Powered by Master-OS™, OptiSwitch is one of the most widely deployed Carrier Ethernet
demarcation and high density pre aggregation devices in the industry.
Designed for layer convergence, OptiSwitch simplifies management, reduces network element requirements and
reduces OpEx for delivery and management for all service types. OptiSwitch enables converged MEF CE 2.0 L2, L3, and
MPLS services with reduced TCO for service providers who want to converge their access infrastructure to reduce OpEx,
rapid service delivery and increased revenue. OptiSwitch combines a robust Layer 3 protocol suite with MRV’s industry
leading Carrier Ethernet offerings. Now service providers can standardize on one device, the OptiSwitch for Carrier
Ethernet, L2, IP, and IP/MPLS from the access device to the provider edge. For the provider edge, MRV’s new OptiPacket™
(OP-X) metro service edge platform enhances MRV’s product line with high density aggregation for end-to-end VPLS L2
VPN services.
To enable new services and new revenue streams, OptiSwitch offers unique s-Flow-based packet sampling features. It
creates visibility for Layers 2 through 7 and offers new ways for service providers to analyze their network traffic. This
enables problem detection, real-time congestion management, application mix analysis, usage accounting, audit trails
of unauthorized activity or DoS attacks, route profiling, peering optimization and better capacity planning, all of which
enable better monetization of service flows.
For SDN and NFV applications, OptiSwitch is designed with a unique hardware based packet acceleration architecture
that will move application flows to high performance packet processors for superior performance, compared to
software-based solutions. The entire OptiSwitch family uses MRV’s Master-OS which is built on a Linux-based, open
source operating system that ensures the stable and flexible adoption of the latest developments in the open source
community.
The rich feature-set of the OptiSwitch portfolio enables service providers to offer a complete range of next-generation
services including LTE mobile backhaul, business Ethernet, wholesale Ethernet, as well as cloud access services. From
ultra-dense, small footprint, low power pre-aggregation switches with the best port density/form factor ratio in the
industry, to 10GE converged L2 & L3 access devices, to fully featured, low cost FE/GE NIDs (Network Interface Devices),
there is an OptiSwitch model for any network scenario.
