RLUX
The TaperLux from RedLux is a shop-
floor hardened optical gauge for the
inspection of internal tapers in orthopaedic
implant manufacturing. TaperLux uses
proven non-contact interferometry to
deliver sub-micron accuracy, unrivalled
speed and portability in a bench-top
instrument.
TaperLux in Manufacturing
Orthopaedic implant manufacturers are
faced with ever increasing demands for taper
quality control and the necessity to search for
process optimisations. The development of
the TaperLux is RedLux's answer to these
challenges.
Currently, manufacturers have to employ
several machines to ascertain features
which the TaperLux seamlessly captures.
These features include taper angle, defined
diameters, depth, roundness, straightness and
surface finish, which are all measured without
contact with the inspection surface, thus

avoiding damage to the component. The TaperLux
employs an efficient measurement and analysis cycle
to eliminate operator dependencies and ensures
optimised performance, with typical cycle times of
less than two minutes.
Sub-micron accuracy and repeatability, high

solution for the inspection of internal tapers.
