Advanced fire protection for Istanbul
Aydin University with Cerberus PRO
Reliably protecting students and staff in a wide campus area
with spread out buildings
Istanbul Aydin University, a private
university in the largest city of
Turkey, decided for the Cerberus PRO
fire protection system to reliably
safeguard people, buildings and
assets on the extensive campus.
The project
Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, builds
the bridge between Europe and Asia, and
is home to more than 14 million people.
Located in the west of the city is Istanbul
Aydin University, a private university
founded in 2007 that has approx. 34,000
students. It consists of 11 campuses,
10 faculties and a large technocenter.
The former fire protection solution was
a mix of several systems from different
suppliers, which resulted in multiple false
alarms. Since the protection of students
and staff on the extensive campus has
highest priority, Istanbul Aydin University
needed to replace their old fire protection
systems with an advanced system from
one source.
The challenge
Protecting people, buildings and assets
at a university is highly important – and
a major challenge. A campus has various
application areas ranging from laboratories and lecture rooms to cafeterias. They
are all widely distributed, and each one
has different requirements. That’s why
Istanbul Aydin University needed a flexible solution. Another key aspect was to
be able to centrally monitor the whole
system at the university’s security command center. Furthermore, it was very
important to quickly install and commission the system during the semester,
without disturbing university life. The
Siemens Solution Partner infoMET Technologies recommended Istanbul Aydin
University to replace its existing systems
with Cerberus™ PRO from Siemens.
