nnnnKey Benefits
nnnn• Single platform for TDM, NTP, PTP
nnnnand SyncE
nnnn• Fully redundant for service delivery
nnnnprotection
nnnn• High capacity: E1 and T1 ports, NTP
nnnntransactions, PTP clients
nnnn• Proven interoperability
nnnnMajor Applications
nnnn• Primary Reference Source (PRS), PRC
nnnnbased on Global Navigational Satellite
nnnnSystem (GNSS]
nnnn• SSU, Building Integrated Timing Supply
nnnn(BITS], Stand Alone Synchronization
nnnnEquipment (SASE], Timing Signal
nnnnGenerator (TSG]
nnnn• SDH/SONET, Ethernet, GPON networks
nnnn• 2G/3G and 4G/LTE networks
nnnn• Telecommunications, power utility,
nnnngovernment and other private networks
nnnnThe Symmetncom® SSU 2000 and SSU
nnnn2000e are fully manageable synchronization
nnnnsystems used by communications network
nnnnoperators to generate and distribute
nnnnsuperior synchronization signals fortheir
nnnnnetworks. The SSU 2000 conforms to ANSI
nnnnstandards and is NEBS certified, while the
nnnnSSU 2000e is ETSI certified. Both systems
nnnnuse the same plug-in cards.
nnnnh addition to traditional freguency
nnnnnetwork timing capabilities forSDH/
nnnnSONET networks, the SSU 2000/SSU 2000e
nnnnsupports packet network synchronization
nnnnwith carrier-grade Network Time Protocol
nnnn(NTP) serverand IEEE 1588 Precision
nnnnTime Protocol (PTP) Grandmaster
nnnncapabilities. The platform supports the
nnnnseamless introduction of SyncE output
nnnncapabilities elements into your network
nnnnthrough the optical Ethernet port on the
nnnnPTP grandmaster card. The SSU 2000
nnnnand SSU 2000e use the latest hardware
nnnnand software integration technologies to
nnnnprovide a complete synchronization system
nnnnfor current and future network needs.
nnnnThe SSU 2000/SSU 2000e is a key element
nnnnin the Symmetricom synchronization
nnnndistribution architecture (SDA) for LTE
nnnnnetworks, synchronizing freguency for
nnnnbackhaul networks with SyncE, supplying
nnnnPTP sync for the 4G/LTE mobile stations,
nnnnand providing NTP sync for residential
nnnnsmall cells.
nnnnHigh Capacity, High
nnnnAvailability Architecture
nnnnThe SSU 2000/SSU 2000e architecture is
nnnndesigned to integrate intelligent, functional
nnnncards into a flexible, fully redundant
nnnnsystem to satisfy current capacity and
nnnnsynchronization technology reguirements
nnnnand allow incremental capacity growth
nnnnand deployment of new capabilities with
nnnnadditional plug-in cards as they are needed.
nnnnThe SDU 2000/SDU 2000e Synchronization
nnnnDistribution Unit (SDU) expansion shelves
nnnnconnect to a corresponding SSU 2000/
nnnnSSU 2000e main shelf to provide additional
nnnnoutput signals. The expansion shelves use
nnnnthe framing and synchronization features
nnnnof the main shelf to drive an array of output
nnnncards. Any combination of T1, E1/204-8 kHz,
nnnnComposite Clock and RS-422 output cards,
nnnnas well as NTP and PTP server cards may
nnnnbe installed.
nnnnT1 and E1 output cards may be configured
nnnnin redundant pairs providing 20 1+1
nnnnfully protected outputs per pair. A fully
nnnnconfigured SSU 2000 system provides
nnnnT1/E1 output total capacity of up to 1280
nnnnunprotected ports or 64-0 protected ports. A
nnnnfully configured SSU 2000e system supports
nnnnup to A6Q protected or unprotected ports.
nnnnBoth shelf systems support high capacity
nnnnNTP and PTP cards in single server or 1:1
nnnnprotected configurations. Additional server
