nnnnMODEL 2816
nnnn300Mb/s, 16-Channels
nnnnDigital Signal Amplifier/POD
nnnn• 16 Digital Data Channels
nnnn• Data Rate of 1.5b/s to 300Mb/s
nnnn• Dedicated pattern memory of 128k/channel or up to 4M
nnnnshared Arbitrary Memory
nnnn• Programmable amplitude and offset control
nnnn• <2ns Initial skew between bits with ±2.5ns skew control
nnnnand 5ps resolution
nnnn• Up to 5Vp-p into 50Q, double into open circuit
nnnn• Transition Times < 2ns
nnnn• Auxiliary clock output
nnnnThe 2816 is a data generator pod that
nnnnoperates only in conjunction with one of
nnnnthe following Tabor generators: WW2571A
nnnnand WW2572A, PM8571A and PM8572A.
nnnnCombined they become a fully featured, high
nnnnperformance, 300Mb/s 16 Channels Digital
nnnnData Generator that provides a flexible and
nnnninnovative solution answering the needs
nnnnof today's digital designers in performing
nnnncharacterization, validation, verification or
nnnndebugging of circuits.
nnnnPattern Memory
nnnnThe Data Generator combo offers two
nnnnpattern memory options: the data can be
nnnnstored on a dedicated 128k per channel
nnnnpattern memory or alternatively for longer
nnnnpatterns the arbitrary memory of up to 4M
nnnncan be used, allowing the user to work in
nnnnparallel with arbitrary waveforms.
nnnnIndependent Level Control
nnnnAs standard, the generator comes with a
nnnnrear-panel connector that feeds 16 LVDS
nnnndata channels into matching 100 loads. The
nnnn2816 pod converts the LVDS levels from
nnnnthe waveform generator output to any level
nnnnwithin a 5Vp-p amplitude window. Each
nnnnchannel has its own controls, so it is possible
nnnnto create unique levels for a single or groups
nnnnof data channels, extending the use of the
nnnnstandard generators to a vast array of digital
nnnndesign applications.
nnnnDigital and Analog Channels Simultaneously
nnnnWhile the digital data can be generated
nnnnthrough the 2816, analog waveforms can
nnnnbe generated simultaneously from the front
nnnnpanel of the Tabor Generator. Users can
nnnneither generate analog waveforms and
nnnntheir digital representation, or using the 2-
nnnnchannel Tabor generator to create 16-bits of
nnnndigital data from channel 1 and independent
nnnnanalog waveforms from channel 2.
nnnnPattern Editing and Sequencing
nnnnThe 2816 provides an ideal solution for
nnnnapplications that require characterization of
nnnna circuit or device timing as well as amplitude
nnnnmargins. Using the Pattern Composer,
nnnnwhich is included with the ArbConnection
nnnnsoftware, any complex data pattern can
nnnnbe designed quickly and easily. Using the
nnnnsequencer enables insertion of infrequent
nnnnfaults and glitches into the data patterns to
nnnnverify device or circuit recovery.
nnnnTarget Applications
nnnnTarget applications include parallel
nnnncommunication test between devices,
nnnncharacterize device timing, characterize
nnnnand verify Asic, FPGA and DACs, D/A
nnnncommunication for cell phones and digital
nnnnTV, create complex data patterns using the
nnnnsequencer, test LCD display drivers, and
nnnnmore.
