Operating Principles

D Differential Pressure Type B e fore air is supplied to the Filter, the Piston
rests against the Valve Seat.When airpressure greater than 15 psig is supplied tothe Filter, air pressure in the Upper Chamber
acts against the Piston to bring the ValveSeat against the Valve.As air withdrawsfrom the Filter, pressure in the UpperChamber decreases to create a pressuredifferential between the Upper and Lowerchambers.The Piston moves upward toopen the Valve and drain the collected fluid.As the fluid drains, pressure in the LowerChamber decreases.The higher pressurein the Upper Chamber acts against thePiston to bring the Valve Seat against theValve.When the air flow through the Filter isconstant, the pressures in the Upper andLower chambers are equal and the Valveremains closed. >

M o d e l sF G FF G MF G D F G F,F G M ,FGD 1/2" Float Type B e fore air is supplied to the Filter, the Spri n gforce holds the Piston open.The Float, inits lowest position, closes off the Valve.When air is supplied to the Filter, the forceof air pressure acting on the bottom of thePiston overcomes the Spring force that holdsthe Piston open and closes the drain passage.As fluid collects in the Bowl, theFloat rises and opens the valve.The forceof air pressure that acts on the top of thePiston is greater than the force of the airpressure that acts on the bottom of the Piston.This force dri ves the Piston down, opens thep a s s a g e, and allows the Bowl to dra i n . >
