Delphi Automotive Mini-Switching Oxygen Sensor
The Delphi Automotive Mini-Switching Oxygen Sensor is based on
Delphi’s proven Switching Oxygen Sensor technology, but features
a dramatic reduction in size and weight. It is up to 50 percent
smaller in size and only about a third of the weight. This enables
the sensor to more quickly provide the engine management
system with a usable signal compared with larger sensors, thus
offering the potential for further reduction of emissions. Its smaller
size also allows greater packaging flexibility.
The sensor provides stoichiometric measurement of exhaust
gases in gasoline and alternative fuel engine applications to help
vehicle manufacturers meet current and future exhaust emissions
standards. It provides more accurate engine control and better
exhaust system diagnostics than conventional exhaust sensors.
The Delphi Automotive Mini-Switching Oxygen Sensor, like
Delphi’s conventional Switching Oxygen Sensors, features planar
element technology for fast light-off and low cost. It has a pumped
air reference feature to prevent air reference contamination and
includes a zirconia-based element with planar geometry. Delphi’s
Automotive Mini-Switching Oxygen Sensor can be used in an
exhaust system in either an engine-out or in a post-converter
location.
Delphi’s Automotive Mini-Switching Oxygen
Sensor is dramatically smaller in size than our
proven conventional Switching Oxygen
Sensors while offering similar features and
benefits.

Significantly reduced size and weight enables faster light-off times.
Compact design and high temperature capability allow the manufacturer more flexibility in locating the sensor.
Smaller thread design and mounting boss are directionally compatible with smaller exhaust pipe architectures.
The significant reduction in lower shield cross-sectional area assists with reducing exhaust restriction, especially in
small diameter exhaust architectures.
Fast light-off time with a low-wattage heater can help reduce system costs and help reduce cold-start emissions.
Pumped air reference prevents air reference contamination from various sources.
Delphi’s industry-leading poison-resistant coating helps optimize sensor durability and thermal shock capabilities.
Although shorter than our conventional Switching Oxygen Sensors, the Delphi Automotive Mini-Switching Oxygen
Sensor maintains the same high temperature capability as larger sensors, while enabling flexibility for locating the
sensor in the system.
o An integrated heater allows the sensor to be mounted further downstream preventing sensor biasing due to
close proximity to the exhaust ports.
o With an integrated heater, the sensor remains active under all conditions, including extended idles.
o Compatible with programs that use gasoline-ethanol blended fuels.
Low power consumption helps minimize the vehicle’s electrical energy requirements.
Robust construction resists thermal shock without cracking.
