PVDF / PVDF-ELS*/ ECTFE
PVDF
Polyvinylidene fluoride shows a higher tensile
strength, pressure resistance and dimensional
stability than the related PTFE, but friction
and insulation properties are lower. PVDF has
a high mechanical strength and toughness
at lower temperature and it’s self-extinguishing.
The temperature ranges from -30 °C to +150 °C.
Properties:
• high tensile strength
• high mechanical strength
• high rigidity (also at low temperature)
• high chemical resistance
• very low water absorption
• good friction and wear and tear values
• self-extinguishing
• high UV–resistance
• toxic fumes when burned
• can not be solvent cemented
• relatively high coefficient of thermal
expansion
Applications:
Gaskets, pumps, rotation disks, valves, flap
traps, centrifugals of extraction, fittings, glide
tracks, cogwheels.
PVDF-ELS* (electrically conductive)
PVDF with improved electronical conductivity.
Volume resistivity about 106 Ù,
surface resistivity 106 Ù.
ECTFE (Halar®)
Ethylen-Chlortrifluorethylene exhibits an
extraordinary impact strength at temperatures
ranging from -76 °C to +150 °C. A great part
of the product properties attributes to the very
smooth surface and differentiates HALAR®
from other fluoropolymers. Due to the fact that
ECTFE is very pure, this material is being
used to process chemicals and ultrapure
water for the semiconductor industry.
Also the permeation resistance to oxygen,
carbon dioxide, chlorine gas and hydrochlorid
acid is 10 to 100 times better than PTFE.
Properties:
• extremely high impact strength (up to -76 °C)
• good insulation properties
• very good weather resistance
• high resistance to radiation
• very high chemical resistance
• very good sliding properties
• physiologically harmless
• high density
• limited protection against stress cracking
at temperatures > 140 °C
• non-consistent against hot amines
Applications:
Parts which come in contact with aggressive
materials (e.g. machine-making industry),
lining of tanks, pumps, flanges, fittings, parts
in centrifuges and control engineering industry.

PVDF
Polyvinylidenfluorid verfügt über eine höhere
Steifigkeit und Druckbeständigkeit als das
artverwandte PTFE. Gleitverhalten und elektrisches
Isolierverhalten sind allerdings etwas
schlechter. Es besitzt eine hohe Festigkeit
und Zähigkeit auch bei tiefen Temperaturen
und ist selbstverlöschend. Die Dauergebrauchstemperatur
liegt zwischen -30 °C und
+150 °C. PVDF besitzt eine hohe Beständigkeit
gegenüber Chlor, Brom und energiereichen
Strahlen.
Eigenschaften:
• hohe Festigkeit und Steifigkeit
• hohe Zähigkeit (auch bei Kälte)
• hohe Chemikalienbeständigkeit
• sehr geringe Wasseraufnahme
• gute Gleiteigenschaft und Abriebfestigkeit
• selbstverlöschend
• hohe UV-Beständigkeit
• im Brandfall können fluorhaltige Bestandteile
frei werden
• bedingte Verklebbarkeit
• relativ hoher Längenausdehnungskoeffizient
Anwendungsbeispiele:
Dichtungen, Pumpenteile, Rotationsscheiben,
Ventile, Rückschlagklappen, Extraktionszentrifugen,
Zahnräder, Fittinge, Gleitschienen.
PVDF-ELS* (elektrisch leitfähig)
Variante des PVDF’s mit verbesserter elektrischen
Leitfähigkeit.
Durchgangswiderstand 106 Ù,
Oberflächenwiderstand 106 Ù.
ECTFE (Halar®)
Eigenschaften:
• extrem hohe Schlagzähigkeit (bis -76 °C)
• gute elektrische Isoliereigenschaften
• sehr hohe Witterungsbeständigkeit
• hohe Beständigkeit gegen energiereiche
Strahlen
• sehr hohe Chemikalienbeständigkeit
• sehr gute Gleiteigenschaften
• physiologisch unbedenklich
• hohe Dichte
• bedingt spannungsrissbeständig bei
hohen Temperaturen (ab ca. +140 °C)
• nicht beständig gegen heiße Amine
Anwendungsbeispiele:
Teile, die in Kontakt mit aggressiven Medien
kommen (z. B. Anlagenbau), Auskleidungen
von Pumpen, Flansche, Fittings, Zentrifugenkörper,
Bauteile in Reinst-Anwendungen.

PVDF
• Auto-extinguible
• Résistance élevée aux UV
• Risque de dégagement de constituants à
teneur en fluor en cas d’incendie
• Peut être collé sous certaines conditions
• Coefficient de dilatation longitudinale
relativement élevé
Exemples d’application:
Joints, pièces de pompes, disques rotatifs, vannes,
clapets anti-retour, centrifugeuses d’extraction,
roues dentées, garnitures, glissières.
PVC-ELS* (à conductibilité électrique)
Variante du PVC-U à conductibilité électrique
améliorée.
Résistance transversale 106 Ù,
résistance de surface de 106 Ù.
ECTFE (Halar®)
Le chlorotrifluoréthylène-éthylène possède
une résistance aux chocs hors du commun
entre -76 °C et +150 °C. On attribue certaines
Exemples d’ application :
Composants à contact avec des agents agressifs
(construction d’installations technologiques, par
exemple), habillages de pompes, brides, garnitures,
corps de centrifugeuses, composants
pour applications extra-pures.
