nnnnPulseOx® Overview
nnnnUp to 1 Billion Times Faster. No Extra Charge.
nnnnAPTwater's PulseOx® process is an in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) technology for
nnnnthe remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. PulseOx systems offer 35-50%
nnnnmore powerful chemical oxidation, and up to 1-billion times faster reaction kinetics than
nnnnconventional air-sparge or ozone-sparge remediation systems. PulseOx systems deliver
nnnngreater value through faster cleanup and closure of environmental remediation sites.
nnnnThe PulseOx system is based on patented ozone + hydrogen peroxide sparge technology
nnnnthat produces Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) chemistry directly in the subsurface. This
nnnnpowerful hydroxyl radical oxidation chemistry rapidly oxidizes a wide range of groundwater
nnnncontaminants. One powerful benefit of the PulseOx AOP reaction is a tremendous increase in
nnnngroundwater dissolved oxygen (DO) content which promotes natural attenuation across the
nnnnsite. The aggressive injection process enables rapid clean-up of highly contaminated "hot-
nnnnspots" or the effective development of contaminant barriers or "sparge curtains."
nnnnPulseOx systems are available in a range of standardized sizes to suit a wide range of
nnnnapplication needs. The self-contained and fully-automated systems allow for rapid
nnnndeployment and easy operation.
nnnnThe PulseOx system operates by injecting a sequence of pressurized 'pulses' of ozone,
nnnnhydrogen peroxide, oxygen, and air directly into the subsurface. The injection sequence,
nnnntiming, and proportions can be fully customized to assure that all chemicals and hydroxyl
nnnnradicals are thoroughly distributed in the zone of contamination.
nnnnHIGH VALUE APPLICATIONS INCLUDE:
nnnnPetroleum Hydrocarbons (BTEX,
nnnnTPHg, Diesel, Aviation Fuel, etc.)
nnnnChlorinated Solvents (PCE, TC E, DCE,
nnnnVC, and most intermediaries)
nnnnSolvent Stabilizers (1,4-dioxane)
nnnnFuel Oxygenates and Byproducts
nnnn(MTBE, TBA, etc.)
nnnnPAHs (naphthalene and other aromatic
nnnncompounds)
nnnnCreosols/ Phenols (creosote and
nnnnmany phenolic compounds)
nnnnNAPL destruction in source areas or
nnnnvadose zone soils
nnnnOther Organics (naturally occurring
nnnnorganic materials, tannins, etc.)
nnnnThe entire PulseOx process is fully-automated. Injection intervals and volumes are set
nnnnbased on patented process chemistry that is customized to the type of contamination
nnnnand actual site conditions. All systems are provided with full instrumentation for remote
nnnnmonitoring of all critical process parameters and to assure the highest level of safety. Once
nnnnstarted, the system can provide fully-unattended remediation to increase productivity and
nnnnsignificantly reduce treatment cost.
