Shaft for sheaves
shaft for sheaves 11.2013
Standard shafts which are used together with sheaves are available for belt widths up to 1500 mm.
Shafts are dimensioned for a belt tension of 7 MPa and max pulling
force corresponding to 15 MPa belt tension.
Shafts CP35
Function description
Sheaves are put on the standard shafts. On drive shafts the
sheaves are fixed by a long key and set screws. On tension shafts
sheaves are fixed only with set screws.
The picture shows an example of drive shaft, bearings and sheaves.
There are two types of shafts: Drive and tension shafts. The difference is that a drive shaft has a key slot along the whole length
(to transfer torque to sheaves) and a drive end. The drive has to
be designed to fit a motor or gearbox.
Shafts are made of ordinary steel or stainless steel.
Scope of supply
Tension shaft consist of ordinary steel or in stainless steel with
bearing surfaces suitable for SPS standard bearings.
Minimum number of sheaves
The fewer sheaves on the shaft the more load has to be carried
by the shaft. There are a minimum number of sheaves that are
allowed on the shaft. Max distance between sheaves is 400 mm.
Drive shafts consist of ordinary steel or in stainless steel with bearing surfaces suitable for SPS standard bearings, a customer made
drive end and a key slot.
