Mulinello idrometrico
Current meter

Il mulinello idrometrico è impiegato per effettuare misure di
piccole e grandi velocità in corsi d’acqua di grande e
piccola portata, nei canale e nelle condotte forzate, con
acque limpide, torbide o salmastre.
Esso è costituito da un corpo fisso di forma idrodinamica e
da un’elica il cui movimento è di estrema sensibilità (soglia
0,05 m/s).
L’elica, posta in rotazione dalla corrente d’acqua, provoca,
tramite un magnete ad essa solidale, l’azionamento di un
contatto sigillato in bulbo di vetro, in ragione di due
chiusure ogni giro. Il numero di contatti (od il numero di giri
dell’elica) per unità di tempo rilevato da un contattore
elettronico CE, permette il calcolo della velocità della
corrente, note le costanti del mulinello.
Per la sua elevata precisione, lo strumento è adatto
all’impiego sia individuale che in batteria, per il rilievo della
portata idraulica effettuata con misure simultanee nei punti
più significativi della sezione.
Per misure in corsi d’acqua ad elevata profondità e/o forte
corrente, è necessario utilizzare il sistema di sospensione
a cavo con idonei contrappesi; per misure in corsi a pelo
libero e con velocità e profondità non grandi, si consiglia il
fissaggio del mulinello ad aste puntate sul fondo. Lo
strumento viene normalmente fornito di elica in lega
leggera.
Una curva di taratura statistica garantisce una precisione
del 1%. Qualora si desideri una precisione migliore, è
disponibile un certificato di taratura ufficiale rilasciato da
Istituto Universitario.
L’impiego di materiali altamente resistenti (corpo in ottone,
albero e cuscinetti in acciaio inossidabile, etc)
conferiscono allo strumento una eccezionale durata in
piena efficienza.

The ME series current meter is well suited for
determination of velocities in open or restricted
watercourses, in clear, turbid or salt water.
The counting contact is a sealed reed-switch, located in
the main body of the instrument, which is twice activated
by a magnet every turn of the propeller. This results in
great sensibility for both low and high speeds, and large
span-range is obtained with only one propeller. Minimum
measurements better than 0.05 m/s are possible.
Counting of the propeller turns is registered by an
electronic counter of the CE series. The instrument,
because of the accurate resolution of the propeller, is
particularly suited for simultaneous measurements at
different points for a given water section. In this event
multiple electronic counting units can be used.
The current meter can be used with standard mountings,
adapted by a single special attachment. We suggest the
use of a wading-rod for low current velocities and in
shallow waters. For deeper water, the suspensionmeasurement system with fish weights is advisable. The
weight of the sinker may be selected according to the
range of current velocities.
The instrument is normally supplied with only one metal
light alloy propeller dimensionally stable in time and very
resistant to abrasion and corrosion. It is perfectly
reproducible and interchangeable, thus avoiding separate
calibration.
A statistical calibration formulae (or tables) guarantees
accuracy within ±1 %. The average calibration formulae
are based on the calibrations of a number of sample
propellers from several manufacturing batches. However
and individual certificate of calibration can be supplied by
official Institute.
The instrument is made of stainless steel and other highly
resistant materials which give it and extended life with
steady reliability.
