The DLP® Discovery™ 4100 is a DLP-based developer's kit that is capable of

extremely fast switching speeds and offers high resolution performance in Spatial

Light Modulation (SLM). With Near Infrared (NIR), visible (VIS) and ultraviolet

(UV) optimizations available, the DLP® Discovery™ 4100 is extremely versatile. This

kit offers developers a flexible platform to develop a proof of concept, serves as a

reference design for a market ready product, and facilitates scientific experimentation

that utilizes the proven reliability of DLP® technology.

At the heart of the DLP® Discovery™ 4100 Chip Set is the digital micro-mirror device

(DMD), an optical semiconductor module that allows the digital manipulation and

projection of light. Control of the DMD is enabled through the 2xLVDS DDC4100

control bus and the supporting Chip Set. This DLP Chip Set provides fast pixel level

J^Ti^PI control across a wide-range of resolutions with speed, precision and

efficiency that far surpasses the capabilities of other spatial light

-. ; I™ H modulators. The new DLP® Discovery™ 4100 Chip Set is also

jMfc 'r pre-configured to support a larger family of DMDs in the future.

", i^^^^^l The Vertex 5 Application FPGA provides a user programmable

platform for developing custom applications. The Application

_ L FPGA is linked to EXP Expansion Connectors that provide

, compatibility with EXP FPGA development products and

- - V provide connections for custom interfaces such as the DLi

D2D Digital Video Interface (DVI). In addition, the DLP® Discovery™ 4100 provides

on board USB hardware for a customizable interface to rapidly prototype. Connection

for DDR2 SODIMM memory to the Application FPGA is also included for customer
