SILOXA activated carbon adsorber, FAKA model (xed activated carbon
adsorber) for reducing hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in biogas plants
This enables the operator to always prepare in good
time for the replacement of the activated carbon. In twinchamber versions of FAKA (K2) it is possible, thanks
to the separation of the two chambers, to change only
the used carbon from the lower chamber and then ll
the lower chamber with the clean carbon from the upper chamber. This ensures maximum capacity utilisation
of the carbon in the lower lter chamber. The twinchamber adsorber is available in 3 different sizes.

Product description
SILOXA's FAKA gas cleaning systems in different
sizes, available in 1- and 2-chamber versions and as
TWIN activated carbon adsorbers, are used to remove hydrogen sulphide (H2S) from biogas. The removal of hydrogen sulphide is an important prerequisite
for compliance with the formaldehyde limit values of
the TA Luft (Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control) using a catalytic converter. Depending on the
model, the steel adsorber containers are available
with an electrostatically dissipative coating on the inside or in a stainless steel version (1.4301).
The previously heated gas is cleaned in a vertical activated carbon adsorber. These adsorbers are securely
mounted on a support structure. For easy changing of
the activated carbon, the bottom of the container is
cone-shaped (for emptying) and the top is designed
so that it can be
relled with a Big Bag. Work is additionally facilitated
by a platform with ladder or a work platform with
ladder (does not apply to FAKA 1500). When the
gas is fed in, it ows through the adsorber chamber
from the bottom to the top. The exact time to change
the used activated carbon can be determined from
measuring points in the adsorber. These sampling
points are positioned so that the lter uptake status
can be regularly measured at different heights.

Choosing the required performance class/size depends on the gas ow rate and the H 2S load (raw
gas load and the desired replacement interval for the
activated carbon).
In other words, the adsorber type required depends
on the gas's H2S content and the volume of gas owing through. The higher the load and the stronger the
ow rate, the bigger the lter needs to be.
