nnnnWhen short-range sensing
nnnnapplications demand repeatable
nnnnand reliable on/off control per-
nnnnformance, the high-frequency,
nnnnfixed-window SUPERPROX®
nnnnModel SM600 series ultrasonic
nnnnproximity sensors is the ideal
nnnnsolution. These noncontact,
nnnnself-contained sensors are un-
nnnnmatched for the reliable detec-
nnnntion of objects of all kinds, trans-
nnnnparent or opaque, liquid or solid,
nnnnand as small as 1.6 mm (0.06")
nnnnrod diameter, regardless of color
nnnnor shape. Offering a variety of
nnnnsensing ranges, up to 254 mm
nnnn(10"), and fixed sensing win-
nnnndows, this series provides for
nnnnthe convenient placement of
nnnnSM600 sensors throughout the
nnnnplant.
nnnnGiven the capability to
nnnn"back off" from formerly "nearly-
nnnntouching" mounting positions,
nnnnthese sensors are the solution
nnnnfor such applications as: metal
nnnnparts as close as 25 mm (1"),
nnnnmoving back-to-back at speeds
nnnnin excess of 2000 per minute.
nnnnOthers include: cap presence
nnnnand/or tilt detection, fill-level
nnnnchecking, fill-tube-presence
nnnnmonitoring, downed container
nnnndetection, case inspection, de-
nnnntection of container edges, web

nnnnWith protection ratings of
nnnnNEMA 4X (indoor use only) and
nnnnIP67, these sensors are imper-
nnnnvious to changing light condi-
nnnntions, colors, noise, dust, 100%
nnnnhumidity, caustic chemicals,
nnnnand other hostile environments.
nnnnThey are resistant to most ac-
nnnnids and bases, including most
nnnnfood products. The sensing
nnnntransducer is made of silicone
nnnnrubber and the sensors are CE
nnnncertified. Easy to install, the
nnnnsensors are available in two dif-
nnnnferent housing styles: the 18mm
nnnnbarrel housing sensor available
nnnnin either ULTEM® plastic (stan-
nnnndard) or SS303 stainless steel
nnnnand the flat-profile housing avail-
nnnnable only in ULTEM® plastic. As
nnnnwith all SUPERPROX® sensors,
nnnncable and connector styles are
nnnnavailable.
nnnnFor sensing applications re-
nnnnquiring connection to a
nnnnDeviceNet network, the flat-pro-
nnnnfile models in this series are
nnnnavailable with this capability as
nnnnan optional selection.
nnnnOperating on 12 to 24 VDC,
nnnnthese 500 kHz sensors are
nnnnequipped with sinking type
nnnn(NPN) and sourcing type (PNP)
nnnnoutputs, a green LED to indicate
nnnnpower "on" and an amber LED
nnnnto indicate when the object is
nnnndetected within the fixed window.

nnnnThe Model SM600 series is a
