eXPERIENCE
Vast experience in Feedwater Heater design, which includes
duplex heaters, and heaters designed for horizontal and
vertical orientations.
Over 800 feedwater heaters provided over the past
20 years, including: 460 LP, 360 HP, of which 189 for
nuclear power plants.
Historic dominance for feedwater heaters supplied
to French nuclear industry with 648 heaters supplied
from 1977 – 1990.
Performance
• ccurate partitioning of heat exchange area between
A
desuperheating, condensing, and drain cooling zones
ensures optimum performance.
• ustom software designed to analyze each zone within
C
the heater enables us to provide equipment performance
guarantees exceeding normal industry standards.
• esign practices incorporate experience from decades
D
of equipment supply and feedback from operational
experience.
Design Flexibility
• Alstom’s international supply base allows us to provide
equipment complying with all global pressure vessel design
codes.
• Experience allows Alstom engineers to customize solutions
to meet the unique challenges of retrofit applications.
Reliability & Availability
Conservative design features provide for long life and minimal
maintenance
• Velocities are controlled to prevent potential for vibration
failures in all zones (limited to 50% of critical velocity).
• Internal standards for steam velocity within condensing
zone are more conservative than industry standard by 10 to
20%, minimizing FAC potential.
• Bundle design eliminates direct contact between shell and
tube support plates, to avoid any damage during insertion in
fabrication and maintenance.
• Rigid bundle structure enables easier and safer handling.
